We are holding three new training courses for captains this winter. The courses are expected to be held in Mathews, Westmoreland, and Lancaster counties between November 2017 through March 2018. Exact dates and locations will be partially determined by the feedback we receive from interested captains.
These trainings are made possible through the generous support of two grant programs. Dominion’s Foundation graciously awarded us an Environmental Education and Stewardship grant to train additional captains and highlight the environmental connections between commercial fishing and water quality. The River Counties Community Foundation also provided us with funding to train captains for in-school presentations.
Both grants allow us to offer even more tours and on-land options. If you are a waterman and interested in participating in an upcoming course, please contact us and tell us a little about yourself in the “How can we help you” section. Please include the best way to get in touch with you, where you would be providing tours, your experience in fishing or oystering, and what type of boat you have.
